Helicopter Tachometer

I found the heliopter tachometer on the website http://www.freemansgarage.com/tach.html. I used a single line LCD display because I had one laying around. Because of the single line display I had to rewrite the software. I used "Great Cow BASIC". Great Cow BASIC is an open-source BASIC compiler for 8 bit Microchip PIC and Atmel AVR microcontrollers. Also included in the project is Great Cow Graphical BASIC, an icon based editor for GCBASIC programs. http://gcbasic.sourceforge.net . I also used a very small DC motor coming from an indoor servo that was broken but good enough to do the job. As you can see a created a PCB board with Eagel software. For sensing the RPM I used a slotted optical switch CNY36. Easier to mount than 2 loose parts.
